| KINGSLEY WALKS - March 2008 - Tues. Walk
The long walk, on March 11th, started from Plumley station car park. Only three intrepid folk ventured out on this walk, but the weather was kind at the start and finish, with only one downpour having to be endured mid-walk, just after lunch! The route took us via Tabley Mere, the village of Lower Peover and along the Salter's Way, before returning to Plumley village.

| KINGSLEY WALKS - Oct. 2007 - Wed. Walk
There were 24 walking, with Janet and Joan leading the walk. We started from the Red Lion Inn, Little Budworth, went north and then turned to the footpath alongside Budworth Pool, along the fields and then into Little Budworth Country Park. In the middle of the Park we came across two wooden carved tree trunks, one was a serpent and the other wasn't so we used that as a seat. This is the photograph with the sitting ladies and Brenda's dog. Pauline from New Zealand is now back home and so we all waved in the clearing 'Hi Pauline' so that she will see the photograph on the website if it is OK. We returned via the edge of the Oulton Park circuit. Len opened most of our gates for us and despite the seven stiles we were back at the pub in perfect time. The weather was fine, some clouds, no rain and mild. Joan organised the lunch bookings and the meals were good, quickly served and Frank, who walked most of the walk, enjoyed his bread and butter pudding with custard.

The long walk on 9 October was an eight-miler around the meres at Ellesmere (Shrops). Nine villagers participated. Again we were blessed with good weather, and enjoyed fine views. We sampled fallen walnuts but did not trust ourselves with the field mushrooms. One of us took a ‘dip’ in Cole Mere, which nearly turned into a bigger one than intended (photo available on website later). At the end we sampled the delights of the tea-shop by the lake shore.

Ideal location for walking wounded - flat, even surfaces, good views across the Mersey estuary and warm sunshine, followed by inexpensive refreshment at a pleasant inn in Runcorn Old Town. No more than 4 miles. Many thanks to Ian, Brian and Frank for setting it up in painful circumstances.

Tea and cakes were partaken of at Carrog station, before commencing the walk. The weather started cloudy and bright, but rain set in later in the afternoon. The leader modified the route to reduce the amount of climbing, but this led to some dis-orientation, which brought us to lower ground. Four members took the opportunity to stop off for afternoon tea and let the train take the strain for the remaining miles.
